A Year Gone By...

First and foremost, thank you to all of you who entered the YakPak giveaway that I held on the blog in my last post.  It feels like ages ago (almost 2 weeks already!).  It's crazy how fast time goes when the shit is hitting the fan.

One week from tomorrow, Jane and Emma turn one.  I was thinking earlier about all that we have been through in this past year.  From going into labor 2 full months before my due date, to bringing home two little bundles of piss and vinegar, to stomach viruses and RSV, from teething to sleepless nights (a LOT of sleepless nights), I feel as though we have come so far from the day we said, "Let's have a baby!"  How little we knew then, and how much love we know now.

We finally got some good news this week.  Our permits have been approved and we are moving towards a closing! (More details on this whole fiasco later.)  Jane and Emma will finally have a home for their second year of life on...

For now, we are here, battling boxes, itching our rashes (Emma has one that covers her from head-to-toe, lucky girl), and counting our blessings that we are finally moving forward.

And to whet your appetite, here's a little sneak peak at our new backyard...

Here's hoping that the next time you see it, there will be an actual YARD, complete with a swing set for Jane and Emma.

I promise I will try to post more often, but the next two weeks we will be busy packing and trying to keep Emma from climbing on any more boxes...

Yup...feel my pain...

And we will also be trying to get Jane to make this adorable face some more...

Is this kid cute, or what?

Have a great week everyone!  Thanks for keeping up with us!

These two kids are crazy beautiful and I fall more and more in love with them every day.  In other news, here's what we are up to.

1.  I'm busy organizing our lives.  I fell in love with this organization QUEEN and ordered her household binder printables from her Etsy shop and am eagerly awaiting my digital download.  I bought a binder and began organizing our little life.

2.  SPRING BREAK BABY!!!!!!!!  Hershey and I are off for the rest of this week, so we have lots of fun planned for the girls, complete with trips to zoos and wildlife centers, family gatherings, and a visit with Aunt Heather.  I also CANNOT WAIT to put their Easter baskets together and give them to them on Sunday morning.

3.  We are working on breaking down/cleaning every single little thing in our apartment and purging anything that we don't use often/don't need, and I have a "to do" list a mile long for projects that I want to start working on because....

4.  WE GOT OUR HOUSE!
We kept looking for a new house after the heartbreak of the deal falling apart last month, but we could NOT find anything comparable.  So we went back to the seller and hashed out a deal that we all could live with, and we will be closing on our home sometime in May.  We are now packing like crazy, which is really fun with 2 eleven-month olds running around and getting into everything (can you sense the sarcasm?).

It's been a big, wild month for our little family, and even though we have been stressed to the max, I know that it will all be worth it in the end.  Just think, one month from now we will be celebrating our babies' first birthdays in our own home with all of our friends and family.  We are so blessed.

What's going on with you all?  I'd love to hear from you!

Have a great week!  And please don't forget to click the links below to vote!  Remember, all you have to do is click.  xoxo

#babycation

Tomorrow (today, since it is 2:30 a.m.), we will depart for our very first family vacation. Hershey, the girls, and I will be spending 12 glorious days at Hershey's family's beach house in Avalon, NJ.

First and foremost, thank God or whoever is out there for vacations! I have been cooped up in our apartment since May. MAY. Do you know how stir crazy that can make a person? Needless to say, my shopping apps have become my credit card's enemy (WHYYY did you come up with online shopping H&M???).

Second, packing for myself has always been a total Pain in the Ass, but packing for two babies is probably the second hardest thing I've ever done in my life (giving birth to two babies being the first).  I spent an hour in the nursery being chided by my husband as I put away all of the laundry so that I could walk through my day and pack as I went ("Yeah that makes total sense, put everything away and then take it back out to put it into a suitcase!" Know what? Shut it!). I know I'm forgetting at least 13 things, which I'm not sure how because I pretty much packed everything in the nursery, besides the cribs.

On top of laundry and packing, I also cooked dinner for my parents and bathed the girls and got them ready for bed. I was feeling like Super Mom until I realized that it was 1:30 a.m. and I hadn't gone to bed yet. I was then kicking myself because every hour Jane has woken up howling in pain with her first diaper rash (of course, because we leave for vacation today), at which point I peeled myself out of bed, tripped over my own 73 suitcases, and swept Jane off to the nursery so that she could scream some more as I smeared Baby Anti Monkey Butt paste all over everything from her ears down, hoping to beat the diaper rash at its own game.

It is now 6:39 a.m. and I am running on about 14 minutes of consecutive sleep (maybe 3 hours total). Thankfully Hershey is driving. I think I'll be taking naps in between rest stops to recover from my packing experience.

I'll be blogging from the beach while we are away, posting about our activities and travel essentials. I'm looking forward to Hershey and I's first grown-up-night-out-while-Grandma-babysits night!

Hope you have a great weekend! Happy twinning!
